Frequently Asked Questions

What is coliving?

Coliving is a modern housing concept where people share a home, creating a community-focused living experience. It’s perfect for students, digital nomads, and young professionals looking to connect with like-minded people while having their own private space.

Who can apply to live here?

Our coliving space is ideal for Erasmus students, interns, and young professionals coming to Budapest for a semester or longer.

How long can I stay?

We offer flexible stays, typically starting from 5 months (shorter stays (1-3 months during summer months). If you need a shorter or longer stay, get in touch, and we’ll see what’s possible! :)

Are pets allowed?

Please note that for the comfort of all residents, pets are not allowed in the coliving space. Thank you for your understanding!

Do I need to pay a deposit?

Yes, a refundable deposit is required when signing the contract. The deposit is typically 1.5 times the monthly rent (excluding utilities).

At the end of your stay, the deposit will be fully refunded, provided:

No damage has been made to the property.
The room/apartment is returned in the same clean condition as when you moved in.
This helps ensure the space stays in great shape for everyone.

How do I book a room or apartment?

You can apply by sending an email to budapestcoliving@gmail.com, through Whatsapp, using social media or through our website by filling out a short form. We’ll get back to you with availability and the next steps.

How is cleaning handled?

Cleaning policies may vary depending on the apartment:

In some apartments, we provide professional cleaning for the shared areas to maintain a clean and pleasant environment.
In other apartments, it is the responsibility of the tenants to coordinate cleaning of the shared spaces amongst themselves.
Regardless of the cleaning arrangement, we ask that all tenants keep the apartment in a nice and clean condition at all times.

Private rooms are the responsibility of the tenant, and each individual is expected to keep their own space clean.

Can I extend my stay?

Yes, extending your stay is usually possible, depending on availability. Just let us know as soon as you can, so we can make the necessary arrangements.

What payment methods are accepted?

We accept cash payments, and occasionally bank transfers or Revolut.

Do you provide an official contract and help with immigration documents?

Yes, we provide official documents upon signing the lease and paying the deposit, which can be used for immigration purposes as well.

What is included in the rent?

Your rent covers:

A private, fully furnished room
Shared access to a fully equipped kitchen, living area, and bathrooms. (utility costs and internet - in some cases only)

What is the notice period for leaving?

The contract is for a fixed period, so the end date is agreed upon when you move in. Early termination isn’t usually possible unless a replacement tenant is found.

What are the house rules?

🔹 Respect your flatmates: Keep shared spaces clean and be mindful of noise, especially at night.
🔹 No smoking indoors: Smoking is only allowed on balconies (if available).
🔹 Guests: Short-term guests are welcome, but please ensure they don’t disturb others.

Is there a community vibe?

Yes, our coliving spaces are designed to encourage connection and shared experiences. While we foster a welcoming community environment, some apartments may be quieter and less lively depending on the preferences of the tenants. We encourage open communication and participation in communal activities, but everyone’s living experience is respected.

What about utility fees?

In most cases, utilities are not included in the rent. Utility fees cover: Fixed charges: Common costs, internet fees, and cleaning.
Consumption-based charges: Gas, water, and electricity, which depend on actual usage.
The estimated monthly utility costs shown in each listing include both the fixed and consumption-based fees, giving you a clear idea of what to expect.

What if I have a problem with a flatmate?

We understand that living with others can sometimes come with challenges. While we encourage open communication and expect tenants to address issues directly, we provide support through multiple channels to ensure everyone has a positive living experience. If needed, we’re here to help resolve any concerns and maintain a harmonious environment for all.
